POETRY: THE MIGHTY ABDULS OF INDIA

Copyright@shravancharitymission

abdul hamid abdul kalam indian flag

THE MIGHTY ABDULS OF INDIA

There is no alarm,

As India has the might of,

Abduls, Hamids and Kalams,

And so, there is no alarm.

*

From battlefield to the drawing board,

From LOC to missiles,

They knew it all,

And all knew them,

For they dared all,

But no one dared them.

*

In the line of duty,

Hamid laid himself,

And while leading the nation,

Kalam was way ahead.

*

Kalam gave India the throb of missiles,

That could stare at the dare of any hostile,

And all drenched in technology and science,

He placed India in the rare club of nine.

*

A teacher at heart,

A scientist by mind,

A genius by birth,

A politician not inclined,

A President by merit,

And a noble by credit.

*

And epitome of simplicity,

Role model of youth,

Every bit an essence,

To India’s presence.

*

You towered India,

To the scales of excellence,

But your job was not over,

When you suddenly left for heaven.

*

While India will miss you,

India salutes you,

You rest in peace,

But bless young India to reap,

More Abdul’s and Hamid’s

For Mother land’s peace.

POETRY: WHEN THE CLOCK STRIKES TIME

Copyright@shravancharitymission

pendulum clock karma pendulum clock

WHEN THE CLOCK STRIKES TIME

When the clock strikes time,

It tells my mind,

That in the interest of a lifetime,

I need to do something sublime.

***

When the clock strikes time,

It reminds,

One needs to climb,

The lofty mountains of harrowing times,

***

For time is never kind,

In the bewilderment of a lifetime,

Where in the cadence of strides,

Timing and direction needs to be right.

***

Where the clock-dial looks like a shrine,

And the needles, the pricking needles of a lifetime,

And the pendulum, the uncertain sting of time,

Is when the clock chimes to announce the unmet rigors of time.

***

And between the clock and my mind,

Remains the eerie twine,

Of sad and merry times,

In the hobnob of ethereal mesmerize.

***

For let’s not blame the clock,

To what we suffer over times,

For clock is no shrine,

That carves our noxious times.

***

For we bring about our own time,

In the rigmarole of enduring spine,

And when the clock strikes time,

It only reminds of our sync with times.

POETRY: IN THE MARCH-PAST OF LIFE

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

marchpast success workhomelife

IN THE ‘MARCH-PAST’ OF LIFE

In the march-past of life,

I often had to fight for my right,

So also, in the march-past of life,

I often had to fight for my plight.

*

Where in the backwaters of my aspirations,

There was always a march-past of ambitions,

And in the animation of my fantasies,

A march-past of tribulations.

*

For in the spate of luck,

My share was low,

But in the spirit of struggle,

My march-past was rife.

*

For who cares and cares who?

As you are a small fry,

But the march-past of life,

Took me to the skies.

*

And in the barracks of life,

Whenever it begins to twilight,

I pull out my boots,

For a march-past of another kind.

*

Though names and definitions change,

March-past remains the same,

And even though it has no great name,

March-past is the gateway to fame.

*

And march-past is divine,

As it quarantines,

The unwanted malware of your mind,

Just to keep you in line.

POETRY: TAKEN FOR GRANTED

Copyright: “From the Prism of God’

By Kamlesh Tripathi

granted taken for granted taken for granted1

TAKEN FOR GRANTED

God what I wanted you never granted,

And what I didn’t you often granted,

You killed my wishes and pooped my desires,

And left me crying in the middle of fire.

*

In my tryst with destiny,

How much you mattered,

When I thought of you every moment,

As my sole benefactor.

*

But in recent times My God,

You riddled and raddled,

At all my grants,

And what makes me wonder,

Is why you surrendered?

*

Lament not my son,

For I see what you can’t see,

And I don’t want to see what you see,

And that brings about the mystery.

*

I granted what was good for you,

I granted what was right for you,

I granted what was required for you,

And I granted what you couldn’t see,

But I could see.

*

I admired the unassuming in you,

I admired the toil in you,

I admired the fire in you,

And so I kept granting you,

*

Until one day I realised,

 Your fire was waning,

Your toil was receding,

And the unassuming in you, was now assuming,

*

And so I pulled my hands,

For make no mistake my child,

What is good for all is granted,

And what is good for you alone may not be granted,

*

But remember my child nothing shall be granted,

If you start taking things for granted.

POETRY: THERE IS A STORM IN EACH LIFE

Copyright: ‘From the Prism of God’

god4STORM1STORM

THERE IS A STORM IN EACH LIFE

There is a raging storm in each life,

That creates ripples in every life,

But without it there isn’t a life,

And so, be that as it may,

Storm touches the chord of every life.

*

While there is a tormenting storm in a failure,

There is a fizzy storm in a victory,

A heart-sinking storm in defeat,

And a sweet storm in success,

Well tailored a storm for each occasion.

*

While I face the storm of illness,

In the merry-go-rounds of my emotions,

Someone else faces the storm of healthiness,

In his own upbeatishness,

But yes there is a storm in each life,

Until he’s alive.

*

For there is an icy storm in isolation,

A competitive storm in company,

A celestial storm in recognition,

A soft storm in a priest,

And a nasty storm in a devil,

Nevertheless, there is a storm in each life and situation.

*

It has no face,

No voice of discord,

Offers no pleasantries nor badinage,

As it makes no sound,

And often enters through the back door,

As a vortex of a lifetime.

*

It often comes as a friend disguised as an enemy,

When it throws you off gear,

 And shocks you to despair,

It hurts you proper yet it keeps you alive,

To learn the lessons of life,

And what more, for there is a storm in each life.

*

It doesn’t favour,

Doesn’t pick and choose,

Treats all equally,

And gives no one a breather,

And spares no one, not even a freshner.

*

Bigger the smile bigger the storm,

And behind every smile there is a storm,

Before every storm there is a smile,

And beyond the storm there is a wider smile.

*

And in my canvas of life, there wasn’t a moment,

When I never faced a storm,

But storms come and go,

Leaving behind the storm of life.

*

For you can disown your life,

But not the storm in your life,

And now when the storm stays away,

I wonder what next,

For there has to be a storm at every behest.

SHORT POEM BY A CHILD CANCER PATIENT: IN THE LAP OF GOD

Copyright@shravancharitymission

health child patient

IN THE LAP OF GOD

What was my wrong?

That you took away my song,

For when I opened my eyes,

I was in severe bites.

*

You taught me a lesson,

By plaguing me with cancer,

But I had not harmed anyone,

So why the torture?

*

As a child,

I had no devious past,

Yet you stepped on my present,

And took away my craft.

*

They call you kind,

They call you a forgiver,

Synonym for mercy,

But you left me in heresy.

*

Fear not my child,

For I’m with you every while,

And you are not alone,

In this vast world of mine.

*

For you are special,

In life’s battle,

And you are my messenger,

And you are my harbinger.

*

You puzzled me God,

You scared me God,

But after talking to you,

I am at peace God,

For I now know,

I am in your lap God.

POETRY: BAD TIMES A FRIEND OF ALL TIMES

Copyright@shravancharitymission

BAD TIMES A FRIEND OF ALL TIMES

Pricey and snobby was good times,

Where bad times was a friend of all times,

Choosy and selective was good times,

When cheaply available was bad times.

*

In the skit of life,

Only few had the privilege of good times,

Rest remained in the domain of bad times,

Quite easily the friend of all times.

*

In life where one longs for good times,

Bad time comes uninvited,

Good times chooses where to go,

But bad times hovers every pore.

*

Good times remains a friend of the few,

Where bad times befriends every new,

Good times is elitist,

Where bad times is populist.

*

And in the cage of times,

Only few are having a good time,

And most in general bad times,

That makes me ask,

Who invented these slimy times,

Doesn’t look like the work of a shrine,

*

But does God work through times,

Or time works through God,

The question remains unanswered,

Over a long period of time.

*

Bad times is more laborious than good times,

And it also teaches the lessons of life,

While good times teaches only lessons of rhyme,

And it all happens in the ambit of caged time.

*

And in the frequents of life,

I have dealt more with the wrath of bad times,

Than the rhymes of good times,

And so to me bad times is a friend of all times.

POETRY: RAIN-RAIN

Copyright@shravancharitymission

RAIN rain1 rain2

RAIN- RAIN

From the nature’s domain,

Comes the soothing rain,

That washes my strain,

And cleanses my brain.

*

For to live and sustain,

I collect all the sludge and insane,

And when the stench becomes overbearing,

She comes to claim.

*

In the torrential rain,

She showers and splashes,

Her blessings and gains,

That we all can claim.

*

For in the flux and flow of life,

So often I mingle and mangle,

To suit my gains,

And when I lose count of sanity,

I look up for soothing rains.

*

She comes every year,

And she comes to everyone,

Some love her and some hate her,

But no one can do without her.

*

She’s the almighty,

She’s the TNT,

She’s the bully,

But she is also life giving.

*

We abuse her,

We waste her,

We tie her,

Yet we can’t hold her.

*

We drown when she over showers,

We parch when she doesn’t shower,

And from rain to water,

She runs the cosmos full throttle.

*

And in the merry-go-round of life,

When I feel tormented,

I look up to the skies moment by moment,

To find out where is she in disguise?

*

And when the first showers,

Strike mother earth,

Nature blossoms humans smile,

And ambience recoils.

*

And every year,

When my chips are down,

I know it’s about time,

For the soothing showers to come down.

*

And as she comes pouring down,

I walk downhill and to the downtown,

In my mackintosh and gumboots,

Criss crossing the puddles and the ponds,

And holding on to my pleasant horizons.

*

Is when the child in me says,

Enjoy the cloudy overcast,

And celebrate the rain,

For it won’t stay,

And such is the bliss of soothing rain.

POETRY: DREAM vs REALITY

Copyright@shravancharitymission

DREAM3 DREAM5 DREAM1 DREAM

DREAM vs REALITY

Like the brooks and streams,

Flows my stream of dreams,

From high mountains,

To the rigors of extremes.

*

Whichever way one sees,

It glees,

But for dream to realise,

One has to besiege.

*

For in the applecart of life,

Nothing is simple,

But in the garrison of mind,

Nothing is invincible.

*

And between my dreams and reality,

Something is amiss,

And the gap is wide,

For one dreams of future,

But lives in extremes.

*

For dream is the thrill of reality,

And reality the forerunner of dream,

And this is how life schemes.

*

In the harsh struggle of life,

Time to dream is a luxury,

And need to struggle a reality,

Where reality is my mother,

And alluring dream is the sky.

*

And from the temerity of wisdom,

Kindles the refractions of life,

Only to convey life is incomplete,

Without the spectrum of dreams.

*

Harsh realities are pin-pricks,

Fancy dreams are breathtaking,

And they live in different worlds,

Where reality bites,

And dream incubates.

*

So what is important?

To live in reality or in dreams,

For without reality there is no dream,

And without dream there is a boring reality.

*

And so I tread,

Three steps reality and one step dream,

For that is the way,

To beam.

*

Since I realised,

Dream and reality need to co-exist,

To balance your life.
