POEM: THE VILLAIN OF MY LIFE

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

THE VILLAIN OF MY LIFE

For every triumph I praised myself,

For each success I hailed myself,

But for each failure,

I never nailed myself.

*

Failures were hard to ingest,

And they were hard to digest,

And, therefore, for all my failures,

I created a villain in myself.

*

Whom I blamed fair and square,

Whom I condemned in all my nightmares,

And cursed each time I was in despair,

For all the failures that I couldn’t repair,

And this became a habit while in distress.

*

Until one day,

In utter rage,

I killed the villain with my own umbrage,

Fearing I had created a Frankenstein,

That might return some day.

*

For, I thought, forever, my failures were over,

And my debacles are forestalled,

So villain is no more required,

But success was still awaited,

Where my final victory was only round the corner.

*

So happily I proceeded,

Despising the villain,

Amplifying myself,

But not adhering to the tenets of life.

*

But as life would have it,

This time it was a calamity that struck,

Wiping out, all my successes,

And bringing about my doomsday.

*

But this time I had no one to blame,

As the villain was dead,

Whom I had killed myself,

And that made me realize,

Do own up your success,

But don’t blame someone else for your mistakes.

POEM: MY HEART–MY JESUS OF TIMES

Copyright@shravancharitymission

MY HEART—MY JESUS OF TIMES

He had a straightforward and kind heart whereas she had a sweet but slimy and cunning tongue

In the eternity of a lifespan,

There was hardly a downtime,

When the kind heart stopped blessing,

And the cunning tongue stopped maligning.

*

For heart was naïve,

Heart was kind,

And it was caring and forgiving,

Just like the Jesus of his times.

*

And it had a straight tongue,

To remind about the tough times,

Likely ahead,

In the journey of a lifetime.

*

Where sadly,

the cunning tongue was sweet but vicious,

And had imbibed all the sickness,

From the seeds of wickedness,

And it had a cunning mind,

That wanted to outlast,

The Jesus of his times.

*

And all along in the merry-go-round of life,

Whenever the slimy tongue,

 Remained unsung,

healthy heart,

Kept helping,

Kept aiding,

And kept forgiving,

Which the maligning tongue, kept accepting,

*

But even with all the rapturous showers of life,

Tongue had her own designs,

Of the wretched kind,

And so,

It kept cribbing,

Kept maligning,

The Jesus of his times.

*

Yet the heart kept overlooking,

Kept forgiving and forgetting,

Tongue’s misadventures,

In all its rigours.

*

But for the Jesus of times,

It was now only heartfelt regrets,

That it had a heart of gold,

Laced with a straight soul,

Not appreciated by the other soul.

*

Even when it spoke for values,

For goodness,

And for virtues,

But now time was running out.

*

For kind heart had nowhere to go,

In this world of rogues,

When the Jesus within,

Made a comment.

*

Fear not my child,

Of the slimy tongue,

So continue to woo,

The wisdom of truth.

*

And come with me son,

Leaving behind that maligning tongue,

To its audience,

That lives in abundance.

*

For remember,

What you sow you reap,

And slime can never bring sweet.

POEM: I & U

Copyright@shravancharitymission

‘I’ & ‘U’

I was right and you were wrong,

And that brought about the storm,

Where, you were the cacophony and I was the melody,

And the melody alone,

Made our lives float in the storm.

*

But what had floated and what had drowned,

No one had any count,

For it had only become a one way war of ego,

Where arrogant ‘I’ had won,

But humble ‘U’ had drowned.

*

In the March-past of life,

I … was like fire and U … like water,

Where fire kept burning,

And water kept dousing.

*

And where in the meanderings of life,

‘I’ kept insinuating,

And ‘U’ kept giving,

Which, ‘I’ kept loving.

*

Until one day,

When ‘I’ thought,

She had outflanked ‘U’

*

And with that she had turned the tables,

And won the bastion,

But in all of this,

Only righteousness had drooped.

*

‘I’ said, you gave on your own—the riches,

And I never asked for it,

Where ‘U’ felt,

Only to save the embarrassment,

I didn’t wait for ‘I’ to ask for it.

*

So ‘U’ was hurt,

But ‘I’ was rejoicing,

For ‘I’ had thought she had won battle,

When ‘U’ had not even lost the prattle.

*

And all along in the prime of life,

‘U’ couldn’t learn,

What it had learnt,

In the decline of life.

*

But now there wasn’t any choice,

Thought ‘U’ at the twilight of his life,

As ‘U’ decides to walk away from ‘I’

Into his own private life,

*

Is when I rejoices,

And reclines to her own wayward life,

without realising,

What ‘U’ had done for her.

*

But ‘U’ is at peace … knowing well,

All equations are settled here,

Before you cross your death bed,

And into the heaven or the hell.

POEM: RIGHT OR WRONG

Copyright@shravancharitymission

Share it if you like.

I was right and he was wrong,

And that brought about the storm,

No! she was wrong and I was right,

And that brought about the enduring strife.

*

In the race of life,

I always made my wrong look like right,

And, his right look wrong.

But all that required,

 A lot of treacherous brainstorm.

*

For no one could realize,

 In the rhythm of life,

Right and wrong,

Were only the two sides of the golden coin.

*

And what mattered in the cruise of life,

Was, the proud possession of the coin,

And, not the two deadly sides,

In the spiral of right and wrong.

*

And as my life meandered along,

There came a day when I turned blind,

Is when I lost the coin,

And what was left with me,

Were only the two sides without the coin,

My right and his wrong.

*

I then realized,

In the speed and greed of life,

When my wrongs outweighed my rights,

God took away whatever I liked.

*

And when I began entering my twilight,

I painstakingly realised,

Neither was right and neither was wrong,

As it was only a lethal battle of ego, rage and the storm.

*

Then sadly one day,

The ego eclipsed,

Storm vanished,

Rage retired,

As my partner expired.

*

And that made me realise,

He too was right,

And I too was wrong,

And that had brought about the blazing storm,

But by then it was too late for a new dawn.

***

Man is born with zero balance of ego but during the journey of life he accumulates ego like no one’s business. That happens to be the main reason for most clashes that doesn’t even spare loving couples.

POEM: DHAKA TERROR

Copyright@shravancharitymission

You adventured to kill, but in the process, you too got killed,

And one wonders, who asked you to kill?

For if it wasn’t your teachers, and friends in college,

Your peers in places, your siblings and folks indoors,

And God in heaven,

Just who was it, who asked you to kill?

*

You shot so many in a bloody,

When someone had to shoot you in a scurry,

You stood for someone unknown,

Trusted him more than the known,

But was it for any holy throne?

*

To you sermons through social media mattered more,

And not the grace of Holy Text,

Nor the lineage of societal touch, that you chose to ignore,

You hallucinated, as if killing was the right path,

And the rest needed to be ignored.

*

And now when you’re gone,

Leaving behind a storm,

God says,

Son I had sent you there,

To conquer the storm, and not to create a storm.

*

Where the world was your oyster,

And so much was still there for you,

As you had hardly arrived,

To create capture and destroy,

*

But isn’t it sad my son,

That you only created the bloody killings,

Destroyed human values,

And, captured the Holy Grail.

*

And remember my son,

If all would start killing who will create,

And for you,

Without seeing the world,

Without feeling the world,

And without admiring the world,

You decided to slaughter the world,

So now remain unwept and unsung,

In your unrealized world,

While my slain sons and daughters shall rest with me in peace.

**

This is a tribute to all those killed in Dhaka terrorist attack. Most of the terrorists who struck here were young and from high families so then how did their values change so much in a short period of time that they created this mayhem?

Poem: Joy

Copyright@shravancharitymission

JOY

In search of joy I wandered,

Only to be squandered,

In pursuit of joy I plundered,

But while doing so I blundered.

*

Like an alluring dream,

Joy enticed me forever,

Into actions of demean, that played havoc,

With my simple serene.

*

In the voyage of life,

I thought important was the end,

And not the means to the end,

So I adopted various means,

Only to achieve the coveted end,

Until one day I realized,

End is only fruitful,

If it is through the right means.

*

And while running after joy,

I could only find the venom of waste,

That had left me high and dry,

To the rigors of depraved taste.

*

For joy was not any achievement,

Nor a prized possession,

And definitely not a status symbol,

And certainly not a glorious complexion,

But only a healthy mental condition.

*

For joy was simple,

Joy was visible,

Joy was small,

Joy was tiny and not tall,

Yet it took me a lifetime,

To understand the meaning of joy,

And in that manner it was quite an overall.

*

I ambled and scrambled,

Wherever I landed,

In search of joy,

When ultimately I realized.

*

Joy resided in my timid smile and bold laughter,

In my sound sleep and little dreams,

Under my pillow and on the roof and even under my feet,

And above all in my radiant eyes, and state of mind,

Which all this while I couldn’t identify.

POEM: SPRING

Copyright@shravancharitymission

SPRING

With the touch of spring,

It merrily rings,

Winter is over and summer is closer.

*

Where trees go bald,

As the leaves fall,

And where hopes arrive in the buds to blossom,

Is when the old vanishes, and the new horizons.

*

Boulevards grin and orchards smile,

Scintillating and sparkling as the new season arrives,

And that caresses my mind to beguile,

Is when I pack my woolens,

To sprinkle in the spring and drench in the summer.

*

And in between the freeze and the heat,

It appears to be a moment of respite,

A moment of revive,

From the unnerving winters,

To the scorch of summers.

*

And as I walk along the lush green gardens,

Under those barren trees,

I can sense how nature,

Undresses and then dresses anew,

To create another view.

*

Truly, spring happens to be the reminder of times,

That sheds the past and imbibes new lines,

That discards the old and acquires the new,

To complete the natures annual review.

POEM: YEH KISKA BHARAT HAI JO INDIA LE UDA HAI?

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

Yeh kiska ‘Bharat’ hai jo ‘India’ le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi’ hai jise India kho chukka hai?

Pehle toh Bharat mein Jai-Hind-Jai Hind ka nara tha,

Par aaj ke India mein sirf Jai-Hum-Jai-Hum ka bol bala hai,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi’ hai jise India kho chukka hai?

*

Kal tak ka Bharat, aur aaj ka India,

Ab jaise sat samundar ke antaraal mein aa khada hua hai,

Kuch samajh mein nahi aata,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

*

Bharat ko dabochkar bana hai India,

Jahan corruption ka hai bol bala,

Aur sachai ka hai mooh kala,

Aur kuch pata nahi

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo india le uda hai?

*

Bharat ke damkhan ko parast kar,

Netaon ne vote bank ko apnaya hai,

Jahan Bharat wasiyon ko Indians banakar,

Aapas mein he ladwaiya hai,

Aur kya kahen,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi’ hai jisse India kho chukka hai?

*

Bharat toh ab siskiyan le raha hai,

Jab katleaam he ho gaya sanskaron ka,

Par netaon ko toh chahiya ek he sanskar,

Is India mein rahe gaddi hamari barkarar,

Aur kya batain,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi hai jisse India kho chukka hai?

*

Janta siskiyan lete hue kehti hai,

Yeh hamara Bharat Mahaan hai jo Neta le uda hai,

Yeh hum sabka India—jahaan hai jo Neta le uda hai,

Aur yeh ham sab ka hi ‘Gandhi’ hai jisse neta kho chukka hai.

REMEMBRANCE

gloom

Dear Shravan

This is how we remember you on your 23rd birthday

Always alive, as if you never went,

On the roll as if never spent,

Days have passed and years have gone by,

But to me it appears,

As if those bygone moments have just commenced.

*

And there from the heaven,

So much to watch,

But nothing to repent,

For soul is intact what if body is spent.

*

But in this game of body and soul,

For me there is so much to repent,

Having lost you to heaven,

And no one knows the extent.

*

There is indeed a difference,

Between the whiz of your soul and the touch of the body,

The touch is no more,

But the whiz is still felt.

*

My days still commence, with your pleasant memories,

That takes me beyond body and soul,

And thanks for your ‘whiz’ that comes each day, my son,

For that keeps me alive; rest I live.

Bless you Shravan.

POEM: MORNING WALK

Copyright@shravancharitymission

morning walk 1morning walk 2morning walk 3morning walk

MORNING WALK

Is like the retreat in heaven,

As refreshing as the fresh breeze,

Arising from the seas of all the seven,

While it starts from the break of day,

And lasts till the last drop of frost in the blade.

*

It prepares me for the day,

And detaches me from the wearies of my yesterday,

It sinews my vision,

And orchestrates my system,

To fire the spark of momentum,

That leapfrogs me to meritorious action.

*

When I see the sun rising,

The birds twittering,

The animals stretching,

Insects trancing,

And humans jogging.

*

It beguiles me to act,

Warrants me to react,

To take on mighty life each day,

Where, I stand as a dwarf.

*

And while walking every morning,

I plan my day,

Introspect my bygone years,

And rekindle my aspirations,

That execute, my ensuing destinations.

*

And as I walk around the meadows, the sun rises,

And with that my hope augurs,

Is when the refreshing breeze, huddles me around,

Only to tell me I’m not alone in the walk of life.

*

And to take me to my morning walk,

The earth rotates and the galaxy acrobats,

The sun shows up at the horizon,

Where the cool breeze comes as an x-factor.

*

For everyone has a part to play,

Where the rising Sun brings about the warmth,

The mystic breeze the freshness,

And your workout the spice for the day.

*

One day when I missed my morning walk,

I felt,

I missed my day,

Lost my warmth,

Waylaid my health,

And scattered my hurray!

*

Since then I show up each day,

Doesn’t matter summer, winter or rains,

As morning walk is the purest of the pure

Act of my day.
