POEM: DHAKA TERROR

Copyright@shravancharitymission

You adventured to kill, but in the process, you too got killed,

And one wonders, who asked you to kill?

For if it wasn’t your teachers, and friends in college,

Your peers in places, your siblings and folks indoors,

And God in heaven,

Just who was it, who asked you to kill?

*

You shot so many in a bloody,

When someone had to shoot you in a scurry,

You stood for someone unknown,

Trusted him more than the known,

But was it for any holy throne?

*

To you sermons through social media mattered more,

And not the grace of Holy Text,

Nor the lineage of societal touch, that you chose to ignore,

You hallucinated, as if killing was the right path,

And the rest needed to be ignored.

*

And now when you’re gone,

Leaving behind a storm,

God says,

Son I had sent you there,

To conquer the storm, and not to create a storm.

*

Where the world was your oyster,

And so much was still there for you,

As you had hardly arrived,

To create capture and destroy,

*

But isn’t it sad my son,

That you only created the bloody killings,

Destroyed human values,

And, captured the Holy Grail.

*

And remember my son,

If all would start killing who will create,

And for you,

Without seeing the world,

Without feeling the world,

And without admiring the world,

You decided to slaughter the world,

So now remain unwept and unsung,

In your unrealized world,

While my slain sons and daughters shall rest with me in peace.

**

This is a tribute to all those killed in Dhaka terrorist attack. Most of the terrorists who struck here were young and from high families so then how did their values change so much in a short period of time that they created this mayhem?

Poem: Joy

Copyright@shravancharitymission

JOY

In search of joy I wandered,

Only to be squandered,

In pursuit of joy I plundered,

But while doing so I blundered.

*

Like an alluring dream,

Joy enticed me forever,

Into actions of demean, that played havoc,

With my simple serene.

*

In the voyage of life,

I thought important was the end,

And not the means to the end,

So I adopted various means,

Only to achieve the coveted end,

Until one day I realized,

End is only fruitful,

If it is through the right means.

*

And while running after joy,

I could only find the venom of waste,

That had left me high and dry,

To the rigors of depraved taste.

*

For joy was not any achievement,

Nor a prized possession,

And definitely not a status symbol,

And certainly not a glorious complexion,

But only a healthy mental condition.

*

For joy was simple,

Joy was visible,

Joy was small,

Joy was tiny and not tall,

Yet it took me a lifetime,

To understand the meaning of joy,

And in that manner it was quite an overall.

*

I ambled and scrambled,

Wherever I landed,

In search of joy,

When ultimately I realized.

*

Joy resided in my timid smile and bold laughter,

In my sound sleep and little dreams,

Under my pillow and on the roof and even under my feet,

And above all in my radiant eyes, and state of mind,

Which all this while I couldn’t identify.

POEM: SPRING

Copyright@shravancharitymission

SPRING

With the touch of spring,

It merrily rings,

Winter is over and summer is closer.

*

Where trees go bald,

As the leaves fall,

And where hopes arrive in the buds to blossom,

Is when the old vanishes, and the new horizons.

*

Boulevards grin and orchards smile,

Scintillating and sparkling as the new season arrives,

And that caresses my mind to beguile,

Is when I pack my woolens,

To sprinkle in the spring and drench in the summer.

*

And in between the freeze and the heat,

It appears to be a moment of respite,

A moment of revive,

From the unnerving winters,

To the scorch of summers.

*

And as I walk along the lush green gardens,

Under those barren trees,

I can sense how nature,

Undresses and then dresses anew,

To create another view.

*

Truly, spring happens to be the reminder of times,

That sheds the past and imbibes new lines,

That discards the old and acquires the new,

To complete the natures annual review.

POEM: YEH KISKA BHARAT HAI JO INDIA LE UDA HAI?

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

Yeh kiska ‘Bharat’ hai jo ‘India’ le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi’ hai jise India kho chukka hai?

Pehle toh Bharat mein Jai-Hind-Jai Hind ka nara tha,

Par aaj ke India mein sirf Jai-Hum-Jai-Hum ka bol bala hai,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi’ hai jise India kho chukka hai?

*

Kal tak ka Bharat, aur aaj ka India,

Ab jaise sat samundar ke antaraal mein aa khada hua hai,

Kuch samajh mein nahi aata,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

*

Bharat ko dabochkar bana hai India,

Jahan corruption ka hai bol bala,

Aur sachai ka hai mooh kala,

Aur kuch pata nahi

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo india le uda hai?

*

Bharat ke damkhan ko parast kar,

Netaon ne vote bank ko apnaya hai,

Jahan Bharat wasiyon ko Indians banakar,

Aapas mein he ladwaiya hai,

Aur kya kahen,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi’ hai jisse India kho chukka hai?

*

Bharat toh ab siskiyan le raha hai,

Jab katleaam he ho gaya sanskaron ka,

Par netaon ko toh chahiya ek he sanskar,

Is India mein rahe gaddi hamari barkarar,

Aur kya batain,

Yeh kiska Bharat hai jo India le uda hai?

Yeh kiska ‘Gandhi hai jisse India kho chukka hai?

*

Janta siskiyan lete hue kehti hai,

Yeh hamara Bharat Mahaan hai jo Neta le uda hai,

Yeh hum sabka India—jahaan hai jo Neta le uda hai,

Aur yeh ham sab ka hi ‘Gandhi’ hai jisse neta kho chukka hai.

REMEMBRANCE

gloom

Dear Shravan

This is how we remember you on your 23rd birthday

Always alive, as if you never went,

On the roll as if never spent,

Days have passed and years have gone by,

But to me it appears,

As if those bygone moments have just commenced.

*

And there from the heaven,

So much to watch,

But nothing to repent,

For soul is intact what if body is spent.

*

But in this game of body and soul,

For me there is so much to repent,

Having lost you to heaven,

And no one knows the extent.

*

There is indeed a difference,

Between the whiz of your soul and the touch of the body,

The touch is no more,

But the whiz is still felt.

*

My days still commence, with your pleasant memories,

That takes me beyond body and soul,

And thanks for your ‘whiz’ that comes each day, my son,

For that keeps me alive; rest I live.

Bless you Shravan.

POEM: MORNING WALK

Copyright@shravancharitymission

morning walk 1morning walk 2morning walk 3morning walk

MORNING WALK

Is like the retreat in heaven,

As refreshing as the fresh breeze,

Arising from the seas of all the seven,

While it starts from the break of day,

And lasts till the last drop of frost in the blade.

*

It prepares me for the day,

And detaches me from the wearies of my yesterday,

It sinews my vision,

And orchestrates my system,

To fire the spark of momentum,

That leapfrogs me to meritorious action.

*

When I see the sun rising,

The birds twittering,

The animals stretching,

Insects trancing,

And humans jogging.

*

It beguiles me to act,

Warrants me to react,

To take on mighty life each day,

Where, I stand as a dwarf.

*

And while walking every morning,

I plan my day,

Introspect my bygone years,

And rekindle my aspirations,

That execute, my ensuing destinations.

*

And as I walk around the meadows, the sun rises,

And with that my hope augurs,

Is when the refreshing breeze, huddles me around,

Only to tell me I’m not alone in the walk of life.

*

And to take me to my morning walk,

The earth rotates and the galaxy acrobats,

The sun shows up at the horizon,

Where the cool breeze comes as an x-factor.

*

For everyone has a part to play,

Where the rising Sun brings about the warmth,

The mystic breeze the freshness,

And your workout the spice for the day.

*

One day when I missed my morning walk,

I felt,

I missed my day,

Lost my warmth,

Waylaid my health,

And scattered my hurray!

*

Since then I show up each day,

Doesn’t matter summer, winter or rains,

As morning walk is the purest of the pure

Act of my day.

POETRY: NOBLE INTENTIONS

Copyright@shravancharitymission

crafty tongue good intentions upright behaviour

NOBLE INTENTIONS

In the wardrobe of my life,

I was always dressed to the nines,

Where my intentions were noble,

I was tongue-tied,

And my behaviour always upright.

*

But where amid the jungles,

Reside those robust egos of all kinds,

And where what matters,

Is not the noble intentions,

Of the tongue-tied,

But the crafty-slimy-sweet interpretations,

 Of the tongue that lies.

*

And while I moan and bemoan,

In the sad rhythm of life,

I also foxtrot,

On the dance floor with the wise.

*

Noble intentions are long-term,

Where slimy and sweet tongue are short-term.

And upright behaviour is the fulcrum

On the anvil of a lifetime.

*

But good behaviour and noble intentions,

Appear as ancient,

For what matters today,

Is a crafty tongue and its interpretations.

*

For if you want to rise,

Hold high,

The gossips and tricks of life,

And let noble intentions and upright behaviour,

Languish behind.

*

For in the world of today,

There is no respite,

From the chicanery of life,

To the dangers in disguise.

*

And while the crafty and slimy tongue,

Clamour in glamour,

Noble intentions, tied-tongue and upright behaviour,

Reap the long term honour.

POETRY: THE ART OF SIMPLICITY

Copyright@shravancharitymission

By Kamlesh Tripathi

simple 1 simplicity 2 simplicity

THE ART OF SIMPLICITY

Happiness lies in the art of simplicity,

Joy lies in the craft of simplicity,

Peace lies in the prowess of simplicity,

And divinity abodes in the womb of simplicity.

*

Simplicity is the panacea for all times,

A tutor for bad times,

A compass for good times,

And a master-key for a lifetime.

*

It is reverse of rigidity,

Averse to autocracy,

Opponent to glamour,

And an enemy of showbiz.

*

In the run up to life,

It was always a game of might,

Where showbiz was hailed,

But simplicity ever stayed.

*

In the mainstays of my life,

Though complexities were galore,

And glamour was endorsed,

Only simplicity was age old.

*

For glamour and showbiz,

Fed on limelight,

Where glamour was gaudy,

And showbiz was shoddy.

Where simplicity looked like a enjoyable hobby.

*

And then one day I realised,

Glamour and showbiz were finite,

Where simplicity was infinite,

*

Is when I enchanted,

Without getting daunted,

To handhold the magic art of simplicity.

POETRY: THE MIGHTY ABDULS OF INDIA

Copyright@shravancharitymission

abdul hamid abdul kalam indian flag

THE MIGHTY ABDULS OF INDIA

There is no alarm,

As India has the might of,

Abduls, Hamids and Kalams,

And so, there is no alarm.

*

From battlefield to the drawing board,

From LOC to missiles,

They knew it all,

And all knew them,

For they dared all,

But no one dared them.

*

In the line of duty,

Hamid laid himself,

And while leading the nation,

Kalam was way ahead.

*

Kalam gave India the throb of missiles,

That could stare at the dare of any hostile,

And all drenched in technology and science,

He placed India in the rare club of nine.

*

A teacher at heart,

A scientist by mind,

A genius by birth,

A politician not inclined,

A President by merit,

And a noble by credit.

*

And epitome of simplicity,

Role model of youth,

Every bit an essence,

To India’s presence.

*

You towered India,

To the scales of excellence,

But your job was not over,

When you suddenly left for heaven.

*

While India will miss you,

India salutes you,

You rest in peace,

But bless young India to reap,

More Abdul’s and Hamid’s

For Mother land’s peace.

POETRY: EGO

Copyright@shravancharitymission

couple ego ego ego1

EGO

I was right and he was wrong,

And that brought about the ferocious storm,

For in this alluring life,

Only I was in the boil and he in the warmth.

*

I was right and she was wrong,

And that brought about the nagging storm,

For in this fascinating life,

I suffered while she rejoiced.

*

Mind says, I was always right and the other wrong,

Heart says I was ever right and the other wrong,

Where ego hides between the mind and heart,

To play its blaring song.

*

In the pantomime of life,

No pantomime remained,

For half was snatched and half was surrendered,

To the ego of minds.

*

Till one day when I realised in the wake of life,

Only tall egos remained,

Virtues refrained,

And happiness was in vain.

*

For in the framework of a lifetime,

Ego reigned under the spell of legerdemain,

While humility abstained.

*

And by the time I could attain,

The bliss of sane,

It was too late,

For the other had left to gain.

*

Leaving me to my big fat ego,

At the inveterate crux of my domain.
