A-SATYAMAVE JAYATE

Aamir Khan conducts ‘Satyamave Jayate’ a high moral–integrity TV serial that often takes up themes for the common man of India. In fact he could have done an episode on “Speedy justice for the common man” based on Salman Khan’s hit and run case, but instead he chose to flaunt his solidarity with a Salman. So is ‘Satyamave Jayate’ behind the scenes ‘A-satyamave Jayate?’

#DIGITAL #INDIA-INCLUDE CLASSIC ‘MOVIES’ IN SCHOOL-COLLEGE SYLLABUS

… like ‘Mother India, Gandhi, Cromwell, to name a few; just like plays and dramas of Shakespeare

It is said and believed that old books and movies take you back in times. It is also the true mirror of any country or civilization. Yesterday, on the occasion of mother’s day while I was remembering my Mom, and surfing channels. I came across the famous evergreen classic ‘Mother India’ being broadcasted in one of the channels. Although, I had seen the flick several times earlier. I was tempted to see it yet again, as my old time buddy Sajid Khan had worked in it as a child star.

But this time when I was watching the movie. I was getting a very different feel. A feel as if I was not watching ‘Mother India.’ But watching the ‘Real India’ of 1957. It is the story of a poverty-stricken village woman Radha (Nargis) who in the absence of her husband, struggles to raise her sons and survive from the clutches of a cunning money lender Sukhi Lala amidst troubles. And, despite all the hardships. She creates a goddess like example. An example of an ideal Indian woman, and that too way back in 1957. The movie in many ways, gives you, a vivid picture of what our ancestors may have undergone, during those times and with what intensity.

This brings me to the moot point that in the archives of Bollywood and other regional movie hubs like Kolkata and Chennai. There lies a huge treasure of cinema like ‘Mother India and Dosti.’ These can become the mirror of ‘Indian times.’ The Government must form a panel that can decide to include these great Indian classics in school and college syllabus, just like any other play or drama of Shakespeare.

Today, we talk of digital India. Where, people don’t have time to read and where 65% of our burgeoning population is below the age of 35 years. Many surveys have revealed, the attention span especially of youngsters has gone down drastically, and people don’t prefer reading beyond five hundred words in one go. So, in such a paradigm we should select exclusive movies that can showcase India to the younger generation and even the outer world and include them in the school/college syllabus.

Extending the point further. Historical and classic movies of Hollywood or any other country that can be useful for our migrating young population. Could also be thought of, as an extra curriculum in our professional and business schools. This will give our students that extra thrust of historically knowing a place where they intend to work.

KUTTE RD PE SOYAGA KUTTE KI MAUT MAREGA, ROAD GARIB KE BAAP KI NAHI HAI- I WAS HOMLESS YEAR NVR SLEPT ON ROAD

MILESTONE-MILLENNIUM DIALOGUE WRITTEN AND TWEETED BY- ABHIJEET BHATTACHARYA

On the big screen Bollywood vehemently fought for people who slept on pavements and roads of Mumbai, until Abhijeet Bhattacharya-playback singer spilled the beans. In fact some twenty to thirty years back when India was awakening Javed Akhtar and his likes would have written just converse to this dialogue and would have slanted it much in favour of the iconic Garib of India. And, many big Bollywood stars including Amitabh Bachchan, Dilip Kumar, Dharmendra and Vinod Khanna to name a few owe a lot to the pavement dwellers of Mumbai and India for their iconic status and fan following in having acted as the revolutionary young garib naujawan of India. Bollywood too has revved up; thanks to the countless Garibs and slum dwellers, who even with their shoe string budgets never missed an opportunity to see Bollywood movies where they could identify themselves with these heroes. But, did Abhijeet Bhattacharya turn around the real face of today’s Bollywood? And so the lines are for him,

Bollywood, owes it to them,
But you showed it to them,
Their place—Abhijeet,

Yes, so now more sign ups and songs for I have backed Salman,
By calling garibs kutta?
For in this wood of woods—Bollywood it doesn’t matter,
For I need to thrive, not just survive,
And I have company in Farah

But won’t Amitabh of Coolie and Amitabh of Dewar weep?
Go ask him,
As I need heaps, as I wait for some more occasions to tweet.

And where are you going?
Back to the pavement,
Without, seeing the movie?
Yes because dogs not see movies.

WHERE UNEMPLOYMENT … IS MY EMPLOYMENT

WHERE UNEMPLOYMENT … IS MY EMPLOYMENT

All dressed up but nowhere to go,

Well qualified, yet no place to serve,

I too had ambitions galore,

I too had rank and ability to explore,

But for me life has now become a big bore.

*

For jobs have thinned down and business has run aground,

Where industry and merchants are in a helpless frown,

And that’s what throws the youth into a deadly surround,

In between the mighty jaws of the ever fighting crowns.

*

Where, unemployment is now all around,

From remote villages to the mighty towns,

Like dust floating in open grounds,

And mind agitating beyond a point.

*

Where 65% is below 35,

And 1% decides the pie,

Things will never change,

Till India thrives.

*

Where, Job seekers cry,

Yet rulers are always on a high,

And where mothers weep,

Fathers moan,

Country groans,

For their children’s throne.

*

So, where are those promises of yours?

For, there are no jobs?

That makes us sob.

*

And there is no point in pitching,

One against the other,

To create tremors,

In the already ruffled feathers.

*

Each morning when I leave my home,

I see a ray of hope,

In my aging souls,

That I’ll return,

With some job in my fold.

*

But sadly it is the same old story,

As I’ve got no glory,

And I have nothing better to tell my aging souls,

Since life is still the same bloody bore.

*

And, as they look at me,

I look somewhere else in shame,

Not knowing how to contain,

Both my frustration and my frame.

*

Is when,

My mother cajoles,

Don’t worry my son,

When states can’t deploy,

And industries can’t employ.

*

Treat unemployment alone … as your employment,

For, we all thought good days have come,

But only for someone,

Who is not part of the lower rung.

#SEBI MAKES FRESH BID TO FIND #SAHARA #INVESTORS

Copyright@shravancharitymission

sebi1sebi2New Doc 58_1

A small investor’s perspective

This high profile Sebi-Sahara jig saw puzzle, remains far from unsolved. Perhaps, the duo of Supreme Court and SEBI will now have to commission the services of Hercule Poirot straight out of Agatha Christie’s novel to solve the plot.

For, in its prolonged and much publicized investigation and offensive against Sahara, Sebi has not been able to ferret names and documents of bonafide Sahara investors from two of its group companies and therefore has been unable to refund the entire amount deposited in the Sebi-Sahara-Refund-Account by the group hitherto; and to that effect has held Subrata Roy, Chairman Sahara group in captivity for over a year now, along with two of its directors.

So far in the first attempt Sebi was available to refund only 4,900 claims. The details of the second attempt to locate eligible investors could not be ascertained and now Sebi is making a third attempt. But, in this entire chain of events, there is something, that’s not meeting the eye.

For if the entire amount belongs to small and poor investors, then why have they not queued up to collect their hard earned money? In fact, the number of investors runs into crores but till date only 4,900 applications have been serviced.

So, then the mystery question is where are rest of the investors and why aren’t they coming forward to collect their amounts? Or is it, that these are ghost investors, and bogus documents to misguide Sebi? Or Sahara is right when it says it has already paid back 95% of its small investors?

Well, it is difficult to answer these questions as of now, as this doesn’t look to be a straight forward case anyway, and we will have to wait in the time orbit, for Supreme Court to crack it.

TOI column,

“New Delhi: Making a fresh bid to locate Sahara investors eligible for refunds, capital markets regulator Sebi asked the bond holders to submit their claims along with the proof of investments.

The latest exercise follows two similar attempts made by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) in the past.

The first exercise began in August last year, when the investors were asked to submit their refund claims by September 30, followed by a similar exercise in December when the bondholders were required to approach Sebi with their applications by January 2015.

There is no specific deadline as yet in the latest attempt by Sebi which has been asked by the Supreme Court to refund money collected from the bondholders of Sahara India Real Estate Corp Ltd (SIRECL) and Sahara Housing Investment Corp Ltd (SHICL), after verifying the credentials of the investors.

While the details of the second exercise to locate eligible investors could not be ascertained, Sebi had received 4,900 refund claims in its first attempt last year from the bondholders of two Sahara firms, which had raised Rs 25,780 crore from about three  crore investors.

While Sahara firms were asked to deposit the money with Sebi for further repayment to the investors, the group claims to have already refunded about 95% investors directly. The group has, however, already deposited over Rs 12,000 crore in the Sebi-Sahara Refund Account, although the regulator has been able to repay only a small amount to investors as yet. Sahara chairman Subrata Roy, as also two top executives, have been in Tihar Jail for more than a year and the group was asked to deposit Rs 5,000 in cash and bank guarantee for a similar amount for their release.

When contacted, a Sahara spokesperson said the group has repaid around Rs 23,000 crore to the bondholders directly, still it has already deposited more than Rs 12,000 crore to Sebi’s refund account. The group further said Sebi could repay only about Rs 2crore after three rounds of media advertisements across 50-60 publications that resulted in total demand worth about Rs 20 crore, as most of the investors have already got back their money.” PTI

No matter how troubled you are but when you meet these children you find a torrent of positive energy seeping in you. It is amazing to see how they are fighting it out. Your NGO in the cases below made a small contribution towards their treatment. Mind you, all these children are brilliant in their own rights, having come from modest backgrounds. And we heartily commend their Parents who in spite of their limited resources are partaking in the arduous task of rubbing shoulders to provide the best of care for their deserving child. And, are not scared of any dark alleys that may exist between their efforts and the cure. Hats off to them!

NGO ACTIVITY: DISTRIBUTING TOYS TO POOR ANGELS SUFFERING FROM CANCER

On two occasions we visited these poor unfortunate children in the hospital to distribute toys. Surprisingly, some of them were from foreign lands as far as Mauritius. The hospital letter speaks of our little effort in bringing about smiles on these otherwise dull faces. And at times we do wonder why such tiny little children get cancer?

INTERVIEW

Kamlesh Tripathi goes Creative from Corporate

After having made a niche for himself in the corporate sector for over three decades, Kamlesh Tripathi finds ultimate solace in writing. The story that prompted Kamlesh to take to writing is heart-wrenching in itself.

People write for different reasons and Kamlesh took to the pen to tell the story of Shravan, his son’s fatal battle with cancer which lasted 14 long years. Gloom Behind the Smile is his first book and served as catharsis for Kamlesh. The overwhelming response to the book made Kamlesh write more about his life’s experiences. One to Tango … Ria’s Odyssey is his second book that underscores the subject of single hood with an interesting twist of suspense.

It is a story of a single girl who deals with life’s struggles in her own way and which is difficult to fathom by those who are alien to the experience of singlehood.

It is rightly said, that one may leave Lucknow, but Lucknow never leaves you. Kamlesh’s third and recent title is Aadab Lucknow… fond memories which is co-authored by his wife Sujata. This is a labour of love dedicated to the city of Lucknow!

The story is about a group of friends, called the Langotia Gang, who spend their childhood and teen years in the Nawabi city but, like most us, are forced to move to other places to make a living.

They eventually return to see what Lucknow is up to? Smiling, giggling, laughing or weeping? Let’s figure out! This inquisitiveness brings them back to their city which shaped their respective lives.

The book gives a nuanced account of Lucknow’s unique Tehzeeb, cuisine and Hindu-Muslim brotherhood,  but doesn’t spare the political arrogance and vendetta that contemporary Lucknow is also infested with. Every Lucknowite is bound to relate the book because of the candid and vivid narration of the Tripathis that is gripping. The authors have deliberately made use of colloquial words spoken in Lucknow but for those unfamiliar with the vocabulary there is a glossary.

Kamlesh’s next title is a collection of short stories. He does not want to say more about the still to be published book but in his own words it will “definitely touch your heart.”

Having been through many a soul stirring experience, Kamlesh says that he likes to write for children battling deadly diseases.

“Let me also confide I only write to help poor children suffering from life threatening diseases and this work is done through our NGO ‘Shravan Charity Mission.’ The satisfaction of helping such children is immense. Perhaps God gave me this pain to realize this,” he adds.

Kamlesh is a writer that city looks up to and now his writing is making waves even beyond Lucknow’s borders. His writing is catalogued by many leading libraries like Open Library, Ames Library (Minnesota USA), Library and archives (Canada), Library of Cancer Aid and Research Foundation (Mumbai) along with the prestigious Library of Congress (Washington DC, USA).

20150425_140213Dear Friends,

Shravan Charity Mission was started in the memory our late son ‘Shravan.’ He was diagnosed of ‘Brain cancer’ when he was only two-an-a-half years old. And after a long and well fought battle he succumbed tragically when he was sweet sixteen in the year 2009. It was a very launcharduous journey for us and since then we decided to help ‘Poor Children Suffering from Cancer,’ and the NGO was registered for this purpose.

#OPPOSITION BLAMES PM FOR DENTING #INDIA’S PRESTIGE BY DISCUSSING #SCAMS WHILE #ABROAD

Copyright@shravancharitymission

TOI 30.4.15 –times view and counter view and now #VOTER’S VIEW

a2a7a4

#Congress leader #Anand #Sharma the other day was blaming PM for denting India’s prestige abroad by discussing scams. His contention was Prime Minister represents the entire country and not just the BJP and so he should not have spoken about scams.

a1

As a voter I would like to ask this person Anand Sharma where was he when all these scams were being committed and why couldn’t he think of country’s prestige then. For happenings of scams are more embarrassing than discussing scams abroad.  He then, was also a cabinet minister and could have ventured into stopping of some of these scams which he didn’t and is now trying to give moral lectures in his much arrogant tone and tenor.

The UPA ministry should thank itself that they committed these financial crimes in India which is a soft state, for had they committed such crimes in China or the US many of them would have been behind bars by now and some even executed by the state.

That apart the other view point is: The world and more importantly the investors need to be told that the erstwhile dirt and filth created by UPA is now being cleaned up, only to entice investors to invest in India, so what is wrong in that. In fact it was only because of the corrupt UPA regime that the honourable Prime Minister had to break traditions and talk of sanitizing India from corruption.

In this day and age of strong media presence every country knows what is cooking in any other countries backyard and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has only done the country proud by telling the world that a neat and clean India has now arrived for them.

Leaders like Anand Sharma should show some maturity and not behave like if I may repeat the Hindi proverb: Khisyani billi kahmba noche. Rather, they should take moral lessons on how to be an honest person, like an Indian voter.
