Poem: Silence

Copyright@shravancharitymission

Silence

In the graph of time,

Silence was always my recline,

Rather my pantomime,

And a seat in cloud nine.

*

But in the huff and puff of life,

And even in the nest of lovely times,

Silence invariably was sidelined,

Where noise pickled every mind,

*

It was noise building on noise,

Leaving behind the graceful poise,

And setting aside the quietude of life,

Only to lift the irate cries.

*

New words came around,

When sound pollution was born,

Coz silence had gone,

And mind was in bloody rage and storm.

*

Quite often,

Noise rose like a tyrant,

Spoke like a defiant,

And took the hell out of silence.

*

Turned peace into heat,

Serene into greed,

Right into wrong,

Peace into squall.

*

Noise was now all over,

But silence just had an enclosure,

Yet enclosure was merrier,

Where noise was like the bull terrier.

*

Here and there,

Silence saw noise everywhere,

But noise ensured,

Silence never dared.

*

I rule the world this day,

So you go and lock yourself in a cage,

For I am the means to communicate,

And you the lasting disgrace.

*

But silence knew,

After nerve-racking noise one requires fleeting silence,

But after peaceful silence,

One only desires a little more of silence,

And that alone is the victory of silence.

*

Where silence is like God’s blessings,

Noise like the devil’s bleating,

Silence connects to lasting goodness,

And noise to ultimate wilderness.

*

Silence is serene,

Silence is evergreen,

As it starts in the mother’s womb,

And continues till the tomb.

POEM: RIGHT OR WRONG

I was right and he was wrong,

And that brought about the storm,

No! she was wrong and I was right,

And that brought about the enduring strife.

*

In the race of life,

I always made my wrong look like right,

And, his right look wrong.

But all that required,

 A lot of treacherous brainstorm.

*

For no one could realize,

 In the rhythm of life,

Right and wrong,

Were only the two sides of the golden coin.

*

And what mattered in the cruise of life,

Was, the proud possession of the coin,

And, not the two deadly sides,

In the spiral of right and wrong.

*

And as my life meandered along,

There came a day when I turned blind,

Is when I lost the coin,

And what was left with me,

Were only the two sides without the coin,

My right and his wrong.

*

I then realized,

In the speed and greed of life,

When my wrongs outweighed my rights,

God took away whatever I liked.

*

And when I began entering my twilight,

I painstakingly realised,

Neither was right and neither was wrong,

As it was only a lethal battle of ego, rage and the storm.

*

Then sadly one day,

The ego eclipsed,

Storm vanished,

Rage retired,

As my partner expired.

*

And that made me realise,

He too was right,

And I too was wrong,

And that had brought about the blazing storm,

But by then it was too late for a new dawn.

Man is born with zero balance of ego but during the journey of life he accumulates ego like no one’s business. That happens to be the main reason for most clashes that doesn’t even spare loving couples.

Short story: The farmer and the crane

Copyright@shravancharitymission

cranefarmerfarmer

Once, a diligent farmer was harassed by the birds when they started attacking his fields. The fields were located close to the nearby forests that happened to be the habitat of many such varieties of birds. The moment the farmer used to sow the seeds and cover it with sand. These pack of birds used to land there and consume the seeds from under the sand. The farmer had gone tired. Trying to keep these birds at bay and was having a harrowing time. Since a lot of these seeds were already eaten away by the birds it was making his farming uneconomical. At last, he had no alternative but to cultivate his land all over again and sow fresh seeds.

But this time anticipating the same nuisance. He brought along with him a big net and laid the trap of the net over the entire field. Many birds as before came to pick the seeds but got trapped in the net. Along with the birds even one crane got stuck in the net.

When the farmer started catching the birds in the net the crane implored—‘please have mercy on me. I have not put you to any loss nor have I eaten your seeds. I’m neither a hen, nor a sparrow nor any other seed consuming bird. I’m a crane. I only eat insects that are harmful for crops. Therefore please leave me.’

Farmer was angry and in his anger he blurted—‘what you say is correct, but today you have been caught along with these birds that have eaten all my seeds. So you are also their friend. And, since you have come with them you too need to face the punishment along with them.’

The moral of the story is: a person is known by the company he keeps. People who are good but stay with bad people are also subjected to punishment and disgrace. By accompanying the miscreant birds even dutiful crane got trapped and had to pay the price.

POETRY: WHEN I WENT WRONG

Copyright@shravancharitymission

wrong wrong 7 wrong1

WHEN I WENT WRONG

In the shimmers of life I never went wrong,

In the merry of life I never went wrong,

In the don’ts of life I never went wrong,

But In the dos of life I often went wrong.

*

When I helped, I went wrong,

And when I didn’t, I never went wrong,

When I was relevant I never went wrong,

When I was irrelevant I often went wrong.

 *

When I trusted I went wrong,

 When I didn’t I never went wrong,

My tragedies reminded me of my wrongs,

Where in the mirror of life I lay upside down.

 *

When I deviated I went wrong,

And when I didn’t I carried on headstrong,

For there will be moments of rights,

That will later appear as wrongs,

And moments of wrongs that will appear as rights.

*

So one day I asked myself what is right and what is wrong?

And gently it said what calms you is right,

And what doesn’t is wrong.

*

And with all those who wronged my right,

I remain calm.

As sadly, I know how often I went wrong.
