  1. WHAT IS A DOPPLER RADAR?

By tracking changes in the speed and direction of wind and precipitation, Doppler  radar helps detect when dangerous rotational patterns are developing as precursors to things like tornadoes and hurricanes. The installation of short-range Doppler radar at airports has given air traffic controllers the ability to know when conditions are ripe for microbursts or wind shear or change in wind velocity, a phenomenon that has caused planes to crash at take-off and landing.

Astronomers have applied the Doppler effect to measure the change in the wavelength of light emitted by a moving star—to show that galaxies are moving away from one another. Meteorologists use the phenomenon to improve their ability to warn of an imminent weather.

A Doppler Radar Antenna tracks storms. Weather radar tools sense precipitation’s intensity and motion; the information is projected onto maps for the general public, using colours to distinguish different types of precipitation.

  1. Criticism is something we can avoid by saying nothing, doing nothing, being nothing—said ARISTOTLE
  2. Get thee to a nunnery” is a play on words. Although a nunnery is a place for pure women who give their body and souls to God, a nunnery also means a whore house. Nunnery has a double meaning. Essentially, Hamlet is telling Ophelia that she is both pure and impure.
  3. When religion and politics ride in the same cart, the whirlwind follows—FRANK HERBERT, US author
  4. I think we can move up from the 7.5% growth which is not enough to employ the 12 million people coming to the labour force every year in good jobs—says RAGHURAM RAJAN. So India needs a higher growth rate and not 5%.

POEM: I & U

Copyright@shravancharitymission

‘I’ & ‘U’

I was right and you were wrong,

And that brought about the storm,

Where, you were the cacophony and I was the melody,

And the melody alone,

Made our lives float in the storm.

*

But what had floated and what had drowned,

No one had any count,

For it had only become a one way war of ego,

Where arrogant ‘I’ had won,

But humble ‘U’ had drowned.

*

In the March-past of life,

I … was like fire and U … like water,

Where fire kept burning,

And water kept dousing.

*

And where in the meanderings of life,

‘I’ kept insinuating,

And ‘U’ kept giving,

Which, ‘I’ kept loving.

*

Until one day,

When ‘I’ thought,

She had outflanked ‘U’

*

And with that she had turned the tables,

And won the bastion,

But in all of this,

Only righteousness had drooped.

*

‘I’ said, you gave on your own—the riches,

And I never asked for it,

Where ‘U’ felt,

Only to save the embarrassment,

I didn’t wait for ‘I’ to ask for it.

*

So ‘U’ was hurt,

But ‘I’ was rejoicing,

For ‘I’ had thought she had won battle,

When ‘U’ had not even lost the prattle.

*

And all along in the prime of life,

‘U’ couldn’t learn,

What it had learnt,

In the decline of life.

*

But now there wasn’t any choice,

Thought ‘U’ at the twilight of his life,

As ‘U’ decides to walk away from ‘I’

Into his own private life,

*

Is when I rejoices,

And reclines to her own wayward life,

without realising,

What ‘U’ had done for her.

*

But ‘U’ is at peace … knowing well,

All equations are settled here,

Before you cross your death bed,

And into the heaven or the hell.

POETRY: THERE IS A STORM IN EACH LIFE

Copyright: ‘From the Prism of God’

god4STORM1STORM

THERE IS A STORM IN EACH LIFE

There is a raging storm in each life,

That creates ripples in every life,

But without it there isn’t a life,

And so, be that as it may,

Storm touches the chord of every life.

*

While there is a tormenting storm in a failure,

There is a fizzy storm in a victory,

A heart-sinking storm in defeat,

And a sweet storm in success,

Well tailored a storm for each occasion.

*

While I face the storm of illness,

In the merry-go-rounds of my emotions,

Someone else faces the storm of healthiness,

In his own upbeatishness,

But yes there is a storm in each life,

Until he’s alive.

*

For there is an icy storm in isolation,

A competitive storm in company,

A celestial storm in recognition,

A soft storm in a priest,

And a nasty storm in a devil,

Nevertheless, there is a storm in each life and situation.

*

It has no face,

No voice of discord,

Offers no pleasantries nor badinage,

As it makes no sound,

And often enters through the back door,

As a vortex of a lifetime.

*

It often comes as a friend disguised as an enemy,

When it throws you off gear,

 And shocks you to despair,

It hurts you proper yet it keeps you alive,

To learn the lessons of life,

And what more, for there is a storm in each life.

*

It doesn’t favour,

Doesn’t pick and choose,

Treats all equally,

And gives no one a breather,

And spares no one, not even a freshner.

*

Bigger the smile bigger the storm,

And behind every smile there is a storm,

Before every storm there is a smile,

And beyond the storm there is a wider smile.

*

And in my canvas of life, there wasn’t a moment,

When I never faced a storm,

But storms come and go,

Leaving behind the storm of life.

*

For you can disown your life,

But not the storm in your life,

And now when the storm stays away,

I wonder what next,

For there has to be a storm at every behest.
