    On a vibrant summer day shine bright in the morning, mother Yashoda leaped out of her bed to prepare for the day. She held her darling Krishna in her arms and began to dress Him up. She applied kajal in Krishna’s gorgeous blooming eyes, wishing to ward off all the evil eye. She combed His beautiful curls and adorned them with various colourful flowers and admired the sweet, charming face of her little child adorned with tilak.

    Mother Yashoda then packed sweets for little Krishna and bid Him bye for the day, just as the gopas waited eagerly for Him. Soon, Krishna and Balaram, along with the gopas and their calves, set out to the forest of Khandiravan in Vrindavan.
    Just as they were resting on the banks of the river Yamuna, watching their calves relish the water, an unusual monster suddenly appeared behind them. The monster was so huge that it resembled a huge crane. It appeared as if a huge mountain was struck by a thunderbolt.
This monster was none other than demon Bakasura, the servant of King Kansa, who was sent to kill Lord Krishna. All the gopas got scared and began running hither and thither. The gopas too were terrified by the demon Bakasura, who immediately attacked Lord Krishna with his sharp beak and swallowed Him quickly.
The gopas, headed by Balram, felt threatened by this mighty bird. But due to Lord Krishna’s presence, suddenly Bakasura began to feel a burning sensation in his stomach. Being unable to tolerate it, the monster quickly threw up Lord Krishna and tried to kill Him with his beaks. But to the monster’s surprise, Lord Krishna suddenly caught hold of the beaks of the huge bird and tore them apart … and thus ended the life of Bakasura. From the sky, the denizens of the heavenly planets showered flowers. And once again Lord Krishna restored the peace of Vrindavan.
